In 2010 he made the jump to the Italian cup in the 125cc 2T class and won the title the following year.
In the 2012 and 2013 seasons he raced in the Italian Speed Championship, and 2012 also saw him make his debut in the world championship by participating, both as a substitute and as a wild-card, in some Moto3 races riding a Honda NSF250R.
Michael switched to the European Superstock 600 championship in 2014, and the following season he took a race victory, four pole positions and four podiums in eight races as he finished runner-up in the overall rider standings.
In 2016 Michael moved to the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, racing a Ducati Panigale R for the Aruba.it Racing - Junior team. In 2017 he took four race wins, four pole positions and five podiums as he romped to the title.
In 2018 he made the step up to WSBK with the same team, before moving to the Barni racing team for the 2019 season.
